Who is Wendi Warner?
Guest Services Manager at Col Solare Winery
Wendi Warner’s passions and interests were influenced at an early age. “My family was in the restaurant business and regularly entertained guests, so it was almost instinctive for me to gravitate toward a career in hospitality,” she says.
“It’s a pleasure for me to introduce people to this wine, and to share their journey of discovery as they detect the subtle flavors and aromatics of each vintage and blend.”
Warner’s first job out of school was with a luxury hotel chain. She began pursuing a career in the hospitality industry, where fine dining and wine appreciation were essential to the guest’s experience. Her passion for “the fellowship of the table” increased as her career – which grew from her 16 years as a hotel executive to include time spent as an international event planner -- offered opportunities to travel extensively and explore the world of fine wines, gourmet cuisine and fascinating people.
Warner’s love of red wines such as Cabernet, Syrah and Merlot led her to explore Eastern Washington in 2005, where she had her first experience with Col Solare.
While visiting family in the Tri-Cities, Warner toured the Red Mountain AVA, tasting wines and visiting the wineries during crush. The amazing wines, beautiful setting and genuine warmth of the people led her to consider her next career move – to Col Solare.
“The estate was a still under construction when I first saw it, but I could tell that the vineyards and winery were going to be as special as the wine,” she says. In May of 2007, she moved to Washington to open Col Solare’s tasting room.
“In my role, I’m inspired to create guest experiences that are as memorable and impressive as each vintage of Col Solare wine,” says Warner, who has planned and hosted experiences at Col Solare including educational tour and tastings, private food and wine pairings, weekend wine and food events such as Saturday Sole, corporate dinners, and large-scale public events such as Revelry on Red Mountain.
“I’m so fortunate that that I can fuse my interests and passions with my work, and I love that I get to showcase the elegance and complexity of Col Solare in such a beautiful setting,” she says. “It’s a pleasure for me to introduce people to this wine, and to share their journey of discovery as they detect the subtle flavors and aromatics of each vintage and blend. “
Warner has also been influential in the promotion of the Red Mountain AVA region, serving as a board member and marketing committee member for the Red Mountain AVA Alliance.
In her spare time, Warner can often be found hiking up Red Mountain, jet skiing on the Columbia River, singing at church, or spending time visiting with family and friends.
